Description

15 Castle Street is a two-storey, two-window building of mainly coursed rubble construction. It likely dates to the 18th century. The front features a central doorway and is topped by a proprietary slate roof. A red brick chimney stack is located beside number 14, and another rubble stack with a brick cap projects from the left end. The windows are largely small-pane sashes, most with 12 panes, with a splayed bay window at number 14. Modern boarded doors are present. A fireman’s helmet is attached to the front of the adjacent building, The Old Fire Station. Cross ranges and modern additions extend to the rear. The interior of number 14 includes a stone-flagged entrance hall and a dog-leg staircase.
