Description
Radnor House, which includes the former No.1 Oxford Road, is a building dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, believed to be timber framed. It has been heightened and features a simple later Georgian front. The building has a symmetrical three-storey, three-window roughcast façade, a slate roof with wide eaves, and a brick chimney stack. The windows are nearly flush small-pane sash windows, and there is a central trellised iron porch with a four-panel half-glazed door. To the right, a lower range connects with the Vicarage, and the rear mainly features small-pane sash windows. The former No.1 Oxford Road now functions as a gable-ended cross range with a rubble chimney breast that has been heightened in brick. There is a parallel modern range at the centre rear and a brick chimney breast to the left.
At the time of inspection in May 1987, the building was unoccupied but was said to retain original internal details. It holds group value with other listed items in Church Street and Castle Street.
