Description

Corran Books, formerly known as The Ship & Castle public house, has origins dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The building features a three-story, two-window rendered front with a plinth, and it has undergone early 20th century and later reglazing. It is topped with a slate roof and has brick end chimney stacks, along with a fluted cornice. The façade includes segmental headed sash windows, and modern shop fronts are located on either side of an open pedimented doorcase that is supported by brackets and features a dentiled cornice. The entrance is arched and includes a six-panel door with a four-pane fanlight above.
