Description

Exeter House and The Pines, which includes the Oriel Evans bookshop, is an early 19th-century Georgian building, as indicated on an 1834 survey map. It is a three-storey structure with a three-window front, featuring a cement render exterior and some later alterations. The ground floor has a deep architrave and plinth, with pilasters on the right side. The building has a slate roof and brick chimney stacks at either end. There are various sash windows, most of which have been replaced, but the second floor on the right retains small-pane glazing. To the left, there is a contemporary five-light shop front with a swept-out cornice, also flanked by pilasters. The central area has paired entrances: a six-panel door leading to Exeter House, a boarded door for The Pines, and a blocked opening to the right.
