Description
12 Hall Street is an early 19th-century building, likely originally constructed as shops with living accommodation above. It features painted brickwork and a slate roof, with an older tiled roof at the rear. The building is symmetrical, with each side having a single window range. The entire ground floor is taken up by shop fronts, which include entrances on either side of a central doorway, all featuring six-panelled doors. Shallow bow windows with small panes are positioned on either side of the entrances. The façade is enhanced by simple pilasters flanking the windows and coupled beside the central doorway, along with a continuous fascia. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes with flat-arched heads. On the rear elevation, there are two small-paned iron casement windows on each floor, each with single ring cambered brick heads. This pair of early 19th-century buildings retains much of its original character, particularly its shop fronts, which are excellent examples of their type.
