Description
This is an early 19th-century building, likely originally built as shops with accommodation above. It comprises a symmetrical pair of buildings constructed of painted brick, with a slate roof and an old tiled roof to the rear. Each building has a single window range. The ground floor is occupied by a shop front, with shop entrances featuring six-panelled doors on either side of a central doorway. Shallow bow windows with small panes are located on either side of the shop front. Simple pilasters flank the windows and are coupled to either side of the central doorway, all unified by a continuous fascia. The upper windows are 12-pane sashes with flat arches. The rear elevation has two small-paned iron casement windows with single ring cambered brick heads on each floor. These are a pair of simple early 19th-century buildings that retain much of their original character, most notably their original shop fronts, which provide good examples of their type.
