Ysgol Gynradd Llanboidy

Ysgol Gynradd Llanboidy is a primary school built from rubble stone with sandstone dressings and features slate overhanging roofs. The building has a T-plan layout, with the main classroom range located at the back and a gable that is flanked by timber lean-to porches extending towards the street. There is a brick ridge stack on the front range. The front gable showcases curved and carved bargeboards, along with a small hip at the gable apex, where slates extend down over a square pent roof that shelters the school bell, supported by two diagonal struts. The sandstone quoins and surround include a keystone above a large segmental pointed central window, which consists of three pointed lights with small paned glazing. The window features one original transom and a second transom above three casements, where the window has been lowered. The side porches are timber lean-tos with 20th-century doors, pointed traceried fanlights, and triangular glass above. The left side of the building is obscured by a 20th-century brick addition, while the right side is constructed of rubble stone beneath red brick, with later infill windows. The back range has similar large single segmental-pointed arched windows at each gable end, featuring three lights with pointed heads for the upper lights, small-paned glazing, and a transom, although the sills have not been lowered. The rear wall includes four segmental pointed arched windows with brick heads, each two-light with a central mullion, transom, small-paned glazing, and arched heads for the top lights. The building has been altered in the 20th century with the addition of suspended ceilings.
