Description
Hamilton House is a house in an informal terrace, featuring a ground floor shop. The exterior is finished in painted lined stucco and topped with a slate gabled roof that is higher at the ridge than the roofs of the adjacent buildings. It has a bracketed wooden eaves cornice and square panels positioned between the brackets. The house is three storeys tall and has a three-window range. The upper two floors are fitted with broad plate glass sashes that include marginal glazing bars.
On the ground floor, there is a plinth, with the house doorway located to the left. To the right, the shop front includes a recessed half-glazed door and a blanked overlight, all within a casing of part-fluted pilasters that feature roundels and paired brackets on either side of a plain fascia. The house door is a two-panelled design with a coloured glass overlight that reads "Hamilton House." Additionally, there is a mosaic on the floor of the shop doorway that reads "P.D. Lewis House Decorator."
