Description
The railings, gates, and gatepiers at Capel Heol Awst and the Sunday School date from the 19th century. The forecourt features railings made of cast iron, which have circular uprights topped with conical lance-head finials. There are short intermediate rails with simpler heads above a very low intermediate rail. The main stanchions have slightly taller and more ornate finials. The low walls are capped with grey limestone that has a chamfered edge. The broad double gates match the design of the railings. The gate piers are finely panelled cast iron, featuring ornate corniced caps and tall lamp-stand finials supported by scrolls. One of the piers is inscribed with "The Old Foundry Company, Carmarthen."
