Description
The gates, piers, and railings to the forecourt of Capel Heol Dwr are constructed with dwarf walls made of ashlar, featuring plinths and coping. The iron railings have spearhead finials on rounded bars, which alternate between upper and middle horizontal bars. The tall, square openwork iron gatepiers are adorned with pierced panels that include decorative paterae and scrolls at the tops. There are large paired gates that match the spearhead finials, with top rails that curve down to the center and two double rails. The upper rail has closely spaced bars, while the lower lock-rail features patterned ironwork over closely set dog-bars. Additionally, there are diagonal and curved strengthening braces.
