Cilfrath Fach

Cilfrath Fach is a farmhouse built in the early to mid-19th century. It is two stories high with three windows and has an attached one-and-a-half-story kitchen that steps down to the right. A continuous outshot has been added to the rear. The building is constructed of rubble masonry, traditionally colourwashed on the front in a different colour from the agricultural buildings. The roofs are moderately pitched, covered with small quarry slates laid in diminishing courses, and feature a mortar ridge. The eaves and verges are plain with mortar copings, and there are stone end stacks with water tabling, similar to the large rectangular kitchen stack.

The first floor has 12-pane horned sash windows, and there is a Victorian sash window set under the eaves for the servants' loft above the kitchen. The reveals are plain with slate sills, and the ground floor windows have timber lintels.

The central doorway of the farmhouse has a timber lintel and features the original six flush panelled door with a heavy frame. The kitchen has a plank door that is offset to the left.

On the right gable end, there is a lean-to outshut made of colourwashed rubble with a corrugated iron roof, and a doorway offset to the left with a timber lintel.

In front of the main farmhouse, there is a colourwashed rubble forecourt wall.

Inside, there is a central staircase passage with plank doors on pintles. The kitchen has a blocked inglenook, and the ceiling is supported by roughly hewn beams, with a former servants' loft above.
