Description
The Coach House and Stables at Sodstone House is an early to mid-19th century building featuring a lofted, symmetrical three-bay design with stables on either side. It is constructed of squared rubble with regular quoins and has a moderately pitched slate roof with overhanging eaves.
The central coach-house bay is advanced and includes a squat round-arched window at the gable end, framed by stone voussoirs and a stone sill, with geometric ironwork cames. The coach-house entrance is marked by a broad cambered stone voussoir arch.
The stable wings are reflected on either side, each with rectangular louvred loft openings positioned below the eaves. The outer ends of the stables have round-arched doorways topped with semicircular fanlights featuring iron cames above split doors. There are single windows similar to those on the coach-house.
Additionally, there are loft doorways on the gable end elevations, and a stone staircase with a side wall is located to the left.
