Description
Pentwyn is a farmhouse constructed from rubble stone, featuring a slate close-eaved roof with slate verges and stone end stacks, the larger stack being on the right. The building is two storeys high and has a three-window range that is offset to the left. The windows are four-pane sashes, with smaller ones located above under the eaves and larger ones on the ground floor flanking a central door. Some ground floor openings have 19th century brick heads, and the stone sills include a replacement brick sill on the left side. There is also a ground floor window in the right end wall and a small casement window with a timber lintel on the first floor to the left of the left gable. The farmhouse does not have an outshut.
Inside, the entrance hall has partitioned areas on each side, with a six-panel door to the left featuring fielded panels and a two-panel door to the right, also with fielded panels. The ceiling has large chamfered beams, and there is a deep main fireplace with a timber lintel above an inserted grate, with a depth of about 1.5 meters visible in a small room that is partitioned to one side. The parlour contains a 19th century fireplace, and there is a dairy partitioned behind it. The staircase is a dog-leg design, with the remains of a plank door at the foot and stick balusters. The ground floor retains stone flagged floors throughout, while the first floor has boarded partitions, one of which is lath and plaster, along with boarded ceilings. The roof structure includes pegged collar trusses with low collars and triple purlins.
