Description

Nantddu is a farmhouse built from whitewashed rubble stone, featuring a slate close-eaved roof and three rendered stacks, with the largest stack located on the left. The building has two storeys and a four-window range, consisting of a three-window main section on the left with a central door, and a one-window range on the right, which does not show any obvious joint between the two sections. The windows date from around 1900 and are horned 5-pane sashes. The ground floor window heads have brickwork, possibly indicating that the windows have been widened, and the broad doorway has a panelled door. At the rear, there is a full-length outshut with six small windows, and a 20th-century lean-to conservatory on the left.

The farmhouse has a three-room plan, likely a typical centre entry layout, with the upper end originally serving as a byre or addition, now used as a parlour. However, there is no clear evidence of any addition at the upper end. The lower end room features a large timber-lintel fireplace marked WW1800, with partitions removed to create a former entrance hall and a stick baluster dog-leg staircase. The centre room also has a timber lintel above its fireplace. The main part of the ground floor includes three substantial beams. The rear dairy in the outshut retains some original slate fittings, and the upper end room has a small fireplace with stone voussoirs.
