Description
The barn at Nantddu is a Grade II listed structure, built from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. This large single-range barn features a full-height central doorway with a timber lintel, flanked by long vent loops on either side. At the left end, there is a low cambered arch for cart entry, constructed with stone voussoirs, and above it, a boarded loft window. To the right, a stable door and window, also with stone voussoirs, are accompanied by a small loft window situated under the eaves. The barn includes a lower rear door opposite the main entrance.
An added lower range on the right side is also made of rubble stone and contains two high and broad cart entries, each with cambered arches and stone voussoirs. There are two square loft windows located under the eaves. Each gable end has external steps leading to loft doors; the left doorway features a timber lintel, while the right has stone voussoirs.
Inside, the barn boasts a 4-bay roof supported by tie-beam-and-collar trusses, with the collars bolted in place. The threshing floor is positioned between the opposing doors. The stone wall at the left end of the barn includes a loft door, and the stable area contains three stalls with a hay-loft above.
