Description
The barn range at Hafod y Garreg is a Grade II listed structure built from thin coursed rubble stone, which was formerly whitewashed, and features a slate roof. The upper end of the barn has double barn doors with a timber lintel and two vent loops on each side. There is a blocked door and a small timber window with four thin diamond mullions towards the upper right, which may date back to the 17th century. The right gable end is built into a bank.
The lofted lower end includes a door with a timber lintel to the right and a loft door under the eaves above and slightly to the left. There is a broad cart-entry with a timber lintel to the left, and the left end wall has two vent loops in the gable.
Inside, the barn features five tie-beam and collar trusses supporting a triple-purlin roof, with two of the trusses also having angled struts. One beam is smoke-blackened, suggesting it may have been reused. The barn also has a cobbled threshing floor.
