Description
The lych-gate and stable at the entrance to the churchyard of the Church of St Stephen likely dates from the 18th century. It is constructed of rubble stone and features a continuous stone slate roof. The structure includes a cart gate in the center, with a pedestrian gate to the right, which is located beyond a full-width rectangular pier. To the left, there is a small enclosed structure believed to be a stable for the parson's cob. The roof has open rafters supported by tapered king posts on the cross walls. The pedestrian gate includes a pierced lintel that once accommodated a turning gate. The stable has a small ventilated opening at the front and a boarded door set in a dowelled frame. The current gates are a later replacement.
