Description

The Gwynne monument, located in the churchyard of the Church of St Stephen, is a limestone family tomb dating from around 1850. It features a tapered die set on a moulded base, which is topped with a moulded cornice and a cavetto plinth. At the top, there is a gadrooned urn that is adorned with a carving of a pineapple. The monument is enclosed by iron railings with spearhead terminals. It commemorates Ann Gwynne of Brynsyfiog, who died in 1810, her son James Gwynne, the son of Gwynne of Trevethe (Brecon), who passed away in 1846, and other family members.
