Description

The Jones monument, located in the northeast part of the churchyard of the parish church, is a tall, tapering monument with a square plan made of grey and buff stone. It features a tapered base with a top moulding, a large tapered pedestal that has framed plaques on all sides, and a heavily moulded cornice. At the top, there is a large circular urn set on a square base with a vase stem, a gadrooned underside, a recessed plain band, a cup-rim, and a guilloche moulded band leading to a curved cap, which is likely missing a finial.

The west side of the monument has inscriptions dedicated to Ann, the wife of David Jones (who died in 1820), David Jones (who died in 1840), and John Jones (who died in 1844). The north side bears inscriptions for John Jones, a banker (who died in 1812 at the age of 25), Evan Jones (who died in 1819), and Mary, the widow of John Jones (who died in 1844). The east side is inscribed to Rev Morgan Jones (who died in 1827).
