Description
Glandwr is a mid-19th century village house that was formerly a shop. It was referred to as Glandwr Shop in the 1891 census, when it was occupied by William Davies, a grocer. The building is not marked on the 1845 Tithe Map. Ship Street, where Glandwr is located, was known as Glandwr, and the houses there were part of the Cawdor estate until the early 20th century.
The building features whitewashed 20th century roughcast, a slate roof, and a 20th century stack at the west end. It is two stories tall and has a three-window range. The first floor has three small hornless 12-pane sash windows. On the ground floor, there is a door, a shop window, another door, and a 12-pane sash window, with only the last one aligned. The house door is recessed and half-glazed. To the left, there is a 20th century stable door, and the adjoining window is a fixed 9-pane.
Glandwr is included for its group value with Y Bont and the houses on the north side of Ship Street.
