Tregare

Tregare is a farmhouse built from colourwashed rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring stone stacks, one located on the ridge at the end of the earlier part of the building and another on the right end wall. The structure is two storeys tall with an irregular front. The left section has a ground floor with a pair of shuttered casement windows to the left and a 6-pane window in the centre. On the first floor, there is a small 6-pane window positioned to the right of centre, with both 6-pane windows having the upper half hinged to fold down. The right section consists of a two-window range with two pairs of similar but much smaller 6-pane windows located under the eaves, above a door framed with bead moulding and a 6-pane sash window. All ground floor openings are topped with timber lintels. The right end wall features a ground floor 6-pane window. The rear of the building has no outshut and includes a central 5-pane window, a 4-pane casement to the left, and a 20th-century lean-to porch to the right.

Inside, the upper end of the house contains the main room and a dairy, separated by a painted post and panel partition with inserted doors, including a plank door to the left. There is a chamfered beam with stepped ogee stops above the partition, along with two additional beams. A massive chimney is located at the centre of the house, and there is a heavy plank door to the right, which may have originally been an external door but now leads into the present entrance hall. This hall features scribed square joists and a 19th-century stick baluster staircase. The lower end parlour has an axial beam with a thin chamfer and square joists.
