Description
Llawr-dref is a farmhouse constructed from pebbledashed rubble stone, featuring a slate close-eaved roof and rebuilt stone end stacks. The building is tall and two-storey with an irregular arrangement of windows on the front. The first floor has smaller 19th-century four-pane plate glass sash windows on either side of a larger four-pane sash window to the left. On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century door slightly left of centre, flanked by 20th-century plastic windows that are not evenly spaced or aligned with the upper windows. The left end of the house has a four-pane sash window on each floor, positioned to the left. The right end includes a single-storey addition with a tall rendered stack on a stone base at the northern end, featuring one door and a 20th-century window.
In 1964, it was noted that the farmhouse originally had an ornate open roof with two cusped roof trusses, which are no longer visible. The right half of the building dates back to the 16th century, extending just to the right of the door. Inside, there are two heavy moulded beams with hollow and round mouldings, along with scratch-moulded joists. The fireplace beam is similarly moulded, cambered, and features run-out stops. A stone stair that was once located to the left of the fireplace has since been removed. To the left of the current stairs, remnants of a moulded post and panel partition can still be seen. The left ground floor room contains 19th-century stairs and a pine beam. One of the two enriched door-heads mentioned in 1981 remains intact. The front door is arched on the inside, but the south door jamb noted in 1964 is no longer visible.
