Description
Llanreithan is a large farmhouse dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It features a colour-washed slate-hung front and a slate hipped eaves roof, with rendered wall stacks at the rear. The building is two-storey with a long front that has three windows, each fitted with 12-pane hornless sashes, and a central six-panel door topped with a traceried fanlight. There is a 20th-century glazed timber and concrete-block porch. The slate hanging is thickly colourwashed and is distinguished by two bands of fish-scale slates between the floors. The northern end wall is roughcast, while the southern end wall is slate hung, featuring a blank window on the first floor. The rear range is lower and roughcast, with a very large stone stack outside. It has three windows above, two below, a door, and a 20th-century lean-to.
Inside, there is a broad hall and a staircase with stick balusters, along with six-panel doors. The northern room boasts an undercut acanthus cornice and a vine-trail ceiling border. An arched recess in the northern wall is adorned with plaster ornamentation at the imposts and a square rosette at the arch head.
