Description
This is a large 19th-century barn located to the west of Brownslate Farmhouse. It is constructed from roughcast rubble stone and features a corrugated iron roof with cement coping at the ends. The east front has a half-height central door with a timber lintel, flanked by a pair of lozenge-shaped pierced brick ventilation holes on each side. The south end wall includes a door with a brick cambered head and a loft window that has a damaged head, which was originally similar to the door.
On the west side, there are high double ledged doors set under a broad cambered brick arch. Similar ventilation holes are present to the left, while the right side has an added stone lean-to. The roof trusses have been replaced. Inside, the loft floor at the south end features brick paving beneath, with stone flags in the center. The main door jambs have limestone battered cornerstones.
