Description
This is a very large barn located to the west of the farmyard at Manor Farm, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The barn is constructed of coursed rubble stone with flush quoins and features a stone slate roof topped with a weathervane at the south end.
On the east side, there is a nearly central large projecting cart entry, which has a timber lintel and short double timber doors that are raised on stone bases below the hinges. To the left of this entry, there is another doorway with a timber lintel. The barn has flanking lean-tos, each with three bays that serve as animal shelters, with the bays divided by columns made of blue bricks on stone bases.
On the west side, there is an opposed gabled entry, both of which have brick arches at the wall plane. The interior consists of eight bays supported by king post trusses, and it retains its original blue brick floor throughout. There is a pitch hole on the south side and a blocked pitch hole on the north side, along with slit vents distributed throughout the structure.
