Description
Tarlton Farmhouse is a large farmhouse built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble stone and features alternating flush quoins. The front has a stone slate roof, while the remaining pitches are covered with concrete tiles. The farmhouse has stone end stacks on the front range and consists of a large double range that is two storeys high with an attic. There is a large lean-to on the left side and a rear service wing with a lean-to canopy in the internal angle, which has a slate roof.
The south front of the farmhouse features a single central gable with a three-light casement window across the eaves, supported by a large stone lintel and quoins. On the first floor, there are three similar windows, each with straight voussoir heads. The ground floor has two 19th-century six-pane sash windows with straight voussoir heads and flush quoins, flanking a central gabled porch from the late 19th century. The porch is made of rock-faced masonry, has a coped gable, and features a tall narrow pointed archway. The door behind the archway consists of six panels, with the top two glazed and the rest fielded, and it includes a plain rectangular fanlight.
On the right side of the farmhouse, there are four or six-pane sash windows, and scattered casements can be found at the rear. Inside, the farmhouse has a stick baluster stair with a ramped handrail.
