Description

This is a 19th-century range of lofted outbuildings located on the south side of the entry court at Brownslate Farm. The buildings are constructed from whitewashed rubble stone and topped with asbestos roofs. The range consists of four sections: the first two are likely built together, with the second section being slightly taller. The third section has a roof at a similar height to the first, while the fourth section has a lower roof.

The first building on the east side features two flat-headed cart entries, accompanied by a small window to the left and a loft window to the right of center. There are stone steps outside the east end, which include a dog recess providing access to a loft door. The cart entries are fitted with iron lintels. The second building contains three small ground floor windows and one door, arranged as window-door-window-window, with three square loft windows above. The third range has two loft lights and a straight joint to the second building, indicating it was likely added later. There is one blocked door below with a brick head. The fourth building, which has a lower roof, includes three circular red brick openings and a row of dove-holes above, as well as a blocked brick-headed doorway on the left side.

The rear of the tallest block is windowless. The first part has one loft window, while the third part features an altered central opening and a window where a door once was. There is a ladder leading to the loft, and the three lofts are interconnected. The fourth part has a blocked brick arched door, a step forward, and a broad central opening.
