Description
7 High Street is a terraced house that forms part of a stepped row with small, narrow frontages. The exterior is finished in painted roughcast and features a slate roof with close eaves and a hipped design, made of small slates. The building has two storeys and an attic, with one window range. The roof includes a 19th-century dormer that has a pair of casement windows, along with a boarded gable and cusped bargeboards. The first floor juts out over a moulded bressumer, which has a 19th-century cornice applied to it. The shop window consists of two plate-glass panes, with one pane canted into a recessed shop doorway located to the right. The door itself has two fielded panels below two glazed panels.
The interior has not been inspected but is linked on the ground floor to Nos 9 and 11, featuring modern details and plastered beams. It is said to have closely spaced beams at the ground floor, a pointed stone arched doorway on the first floor, and a moulded doorway leading to the attic, which has an ovolo-moulded frame and ogee stops. One attic truss displays lapped dovetail joints at the collar.
