Description

War Memorial, grey limestone and white marble, square-plan pedestal memorial in neo-classical style. On 3 steps, high plinth has ogee moulded base, moulded cornice and front inscription 'Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends'. Added marble plaques with names from 1939-1945 war. Tall main shaft has grey stone Ionic corner piers with bronze capitals and long marble panels between with names of the 1914-1918 dead on all 4 sides. Between capitals above plaques each side is grey stone short band with small bronze wreath. Full entablature above with deep frieze and dentil cornice. Top section is a recessed square with grey stone short corner piers framing white marble carved plaques with plain cornice over. Carved plaques have Tenby town arms, scrolls inscribed 'Requiescat in Pace', 'Gwell angau na chwilydd' and 'Their name liveth for evermore'. Topmost section has square angle blocks framing recessed low-gabled plinth to an incurved pedestal with bronze square capital and bronze flame.
