Description

The War Memorial is a Grade II listed structure made of grey limestone and white marble, designed in a neo-classical style. It stands on three steps, featuring a high plinth with an ogee moulded base, a moulded cornice, and an inscription on the front that reads, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." There are added marble plaques listing names from the 1939-1945 war.

The tall main shaft has grey stone Ionic corner piers topped with bronze capitals, and long marble panels displaying the names of the 1914-1918 dead on all four sides. Above the plaques, each side features a short grey stone band with a small bronze wreath between the capitals. The memorial is topped with a full entablature that includes a deep frieze and a dentil cornice.

The upper section consists of a recessed square framed by grey stone short corner piers, which support white marble carved plaques with a plain cornice above. These carved plaques display the town arms of Tenby, along with scrolls inscribed with "Requiescat in Pace," "Gwell angau na chwilydd," and "Their name liveth for evermore." The very top section has square angle blocks framing a recessed low-gabled plinth that leads to an incurved pedestal crowned with a bronze square capital and a bronze flame.
