Description
The NE range of Middle Factory at Leri Mills is a two-storey building constructed from whitewashed rubble stone, topped with tin-sheet roof cladding that was originally graded slate. The roof is half-hipped at the north end and was originally half-hipped at the south end until it was extended up to the track. The older part of the building is located to the left and features a four-window range. The upper windows are positioned under the eaves and are three-light with thin timber vertical bars. On the main floor, there are two central windows with cambered stone-voussoir heads and small-pane glazing in casement pairs, with metal glazing bars. The third window has a timber lintel and three-light glazing. In the basement, there is a 13-foot iron waterwheel on the left and a leat on the right.
The added upper range has a straight joint and follows the slope uphill. To the left, there is a broad door with a brick head, along with first-floor windows that are three-light and four-light. The south gable end features a door to the loft at ground level, which has a brick head and a small apex light. The original south half-hip is said to remain in the roof, indicating the end wall dates back to 1809.
