Description
Gwastadfryn is a two-storey building constructed from local slate stone, topped with slate roofs that were renewed in 2000. The structure features a main three-bay range facing west towards the road, with a rear wing of two bays that extends south with an open fronted lean-to. A small gabled porch is located on the north side. The facade is whitewashed and symmetrical, though slightly offset to the left. It has a central 20th-century door with a six-pane glazed panel. On both floors, there are three-light windows on either side, with all ground floor openings featuring stone hoods supported by small stone brackets, and a two-light window positioned above the door. The gable ends have stacks, with the one at the south end being external.
Inside, there is a central stair hall that leads to a living room on the left (north) side and a parlour on the right. The kitchen and service rooms are located in the rear wing. The lean-to was originally linked to an iron waterwheel that operated in a water channel running past the gable end of the rear wing.
