Description
The SW Farm Building at Ty'n-y-fach is a structure built from locally sourced boulders, with some areas galletted, and features a slate roof between boulder-coped gables. It has wide openings in the third bay from the northeast, which currently lack doors, along with narrow slit vents in the first and second bays. There is a blocked window opening in the fourth bay. A later farm building is attached to the rear, and the base of the front wall has been partially reinforced with concrete.
The building consists of four bays, defined by tie beam trusses that have long curved struts tenoned to the principal rafters, supporting two tiers of purlins that are fully torched between battens. It is likely that this building served as a cowhouse, although there are no remaining internal fittings to indicate the original layout. The western bay appears to have been used for a different purpose.
