Description
Old Ty'n-y-fach is a house built of rubble stonework, whitened, with a slate roof. The original house dates to a period when cruck-truss construction was common, and it consists of three bays with gable stacks. It was later extended southwest into a former two-bay farm building. The house has one storey and attics, with 16-pane windows in timber top-hung sashes; those in the attic are set in narrow, gabled dormers. A large part-external stack is situated at the northeast end, featuring various drip courses. The extension into the former farm range has a 20th-century six-panelled door with an overlight. Dormers on the upper floor are slightly wider, with hipped roofs. A gable end stack is present. At the rear, there are four-paned windows, and a door towards the northeast end, along with a window in the left-hand bay, each featuring projecting drip stones. The former farm range has a part-glazed door flanked by small 20th-century windows. Small roof lights are also present. The original house part is understood to contain two pairs of cruck trusses, which were not visible during the survey.
