Description
Upper Building at Middle Factory, Leri Mills, is a Grade II listed structure built from whitewashed rubble stone, topped with a slate roof and featuring stone end stacks. The building is set into a steep bank. The south side, facing the track, is a single storey with four openings between stone piers; these openings have been variously infilled and may have originally been open for use as a drying floor. The east side shows signs of roof-raising, indicating that the loft and south front are from the earlier 19th century. There is a ground floor door on this side. The north side, which faces the leat, has high walls and a windowless stone projection on the right, likely the site of a water wheel. On the left of the ground floor, there are three small pairs of timber casement windows with slab lintels, and one first floor window to the left. The west end features an external chimney and a stone lean-to with a slate roof on the left, along with a four-pane sash window on the first floor to the right.
