Description
The Dyeing Shed at Middle Factory, Leri Mills is a 19th-century structure built from rubble stone and topped with a slate roof. This short, square building is lofted and built into a bank. The south side features a ledged door leading into the loft and a window. On the east end, there are two ground floor openings: the left has a heavy oak lintel above a window, while the right has a door with a 19th-century timber lintel. The north side, facing the river, includes one ground floor window with an oak lintel on the left and two pairs of upper casement windows. The west end is cut back, leaving remnants of the ground floor walls, which have been infilled with corrugated iron.
Inside, there is one heavy beam on the ground floor and remnants of late 19th-century or early 20th-century dyeing tubs. There is also a blocked opening with an oak lintel on the south wall. The loft is supported by two 19th-century pine roof trusses.
