Description
The outbuilding, possibly a former house, is constructed of rubble stone and features a 19th-century slate roof along with a crude brick bellcote on the north side. The south end has a large square corniced stone stack, likely dating from the 16th century. It is two storeys high, with the north end built into a bank, featuring a loft door and three tiers of dove-holes in the gable. The building has heavy cornerstones.
On the west side, there is a loft window under the eaves to the left of the center, a former door now converted into a window to the left, and a blocked door next to an existing door with a window to the right. All these openings have stone slab lintels. The rear east side has a door with a slab lintel directly opposite the west side door, a blocked door to the right, and a window to the right, all with slab lintels. There is also a loft window under the eaves on this side, opposite the one on the west side.
The floors and roof are made of 19th-century pine, but at the south end, there is a massive chimney breast with a long straight oak chimney-beam. To the right of this is a taller opening leading to a stone circular stair, although the lower steps are missing. There is a small square recess high to the left. A stone dividing wall between the two ground floor rooms is likely from the 19th century; the original two-room plan had a beam between corbels north of the present wall, and a reused beam slotted for partitions is located at the south end.
