Description

3 Marine Terrace is a Grade II listed building featuring front elevations to the north and south, with No 2 located on Pier Street and No 3 facing along Marine Terrace. The building has four storeys, except for Pier Street, which has three storeys and a basement. The exterior of No 3 is finished in painted cement render, while No 2 is covered in stucco. Architectural details include channelled and pilaster strips, cill bands, and a rusticated ground floor. The roofs are slate, with a rubble chimney stack and boxed eaves, and the windows are horned sash glazing.

No 3 has a symmetrical three-window front with outer bay windows and central windows featuring architraves on the first and second floors. To the right, there is a splayed half-glazed porch with a cornice. The side elevation has a similar two-window arrangement with a bay to the right and blocked openings on the first and second floors, with architraves above a modern entrance to the left.

No 2 also has a symmetrical three-window front on Marine Terrace, divided by pilaster strips. It features similar windows with a central oriel window that is bracketed over the ground floor, and a boarded door to the right. The ground floor is set back behind a rising railed pavement supported by barley twist uprights. The Pier Street elevation is offset with two windows and dividing pilaster strips. The windows have architraves, with one blocked on the second floor. A fine Doric doorcase is located to the right, featuring a cornice supported by fluted columns, a half-glazed door, and a lettered fanlight.
