Description
36 Pier Street is part of a terraced group of Georgian buildings, featuring three stories, with No 36 also having a basement and an attic. The front facades of Nos 32 and 36 are made of scribed stucco and have two windows each, with bracketed cills. The roofs are slate, and there are wide bracket eaves along with brick and rendered chimney stacks. No 36 has a modern attic with small pane windows. The buildings have 9 and 15-pane sash windows, and Nos 32 and 36 feature tripartite windows on the ground floor, which are complemented by tall narrow doorcases adorned with Egyptian panelled pilasters and panelled reveals. Above the six-panel doors, there are fanlights. Additionally, there is a Victorian shop front at No 34, which has gabled fascia ends with part fluted pilasters; the lower sections include infill, with the left side glazed and the right side tiled. The shop entrance is offset to the right, while the entrance to No 34A is on the left and retains a display cabinet.
