Carrefair, including Railings and front Terrace

Carrefair, which includes Nos 2, 2a, and 4, features stucco construction with slate roofs and rendered stacks. This two-storey building with an attic has a five-window range; originally, it had three windows but now has four two-window arrangements. The ground floor is rusticated up to the first floor sill-course, while the first floor is rendered, topped with a dentilled cornice and a plain coped parapet. Nos 2 and 2a have three dormers, while No 4 has two. The windows are hornless 12-pane sashes set in moulded architraves, with the upper windows having bases that step out, and the lower ones featuring more elaborate designs with panelled piers, panelled heads, and cornices on console brackets. Nos 2 and 2a share a pair of doors, with the door to 2a being a later addition, as the other is centrally aligned. Both doors have overlights and earlier 20th-century doors. A wide classical porch is supported by two fluted Ionic columns, with pilaster responds and an entablature featuring a modillion cornice. No 4 has one ground floor window to the left and a six-panel door to the right, which is set in a tall doorcase with panelled piers and an open segmental pediment.

No 4 has been restored to align more closely with Nos 2 and 2a. In the 1963 listing description, plate glass windows were noted, and it was mentioned that there was no ground floor rustication except for the surviving angle quoins on the first floor.

The houses are situated on a raised rubble stone terrace with a curved southwest angle, complemented by fine cast-iron railings of mid-19th century design featuring circles and diagonal spears. The railings curve around the south end wall, and there are two sets of iron gatepiers with matching gates.
