Description
The gatepiers and gates at Hafod Lodge date from the 19th century and are constructed of tooled grey stone. The gatepiers feature a plinth, chamfered piers, a string-course, a plain frieze, and a cornice with moulding beneath a flat cap. Above the low plinth, which supports a renewed carriage lamp, are double gates designed with spearhead rails. The mid-rail includes a row of cast-iron pierced quatrefoils set within squares, with dog-bars below and spearhead finials above. The dog-bars are reinforced with diagonally crossed strengthening bars. The locks are marked with "Hill & Smith, Broseley Hill."
