Description
Nantycae is a cottage built from whitewashed rubble stone with slate roofs that overhang at the gables. It is a single storey with an attic and features a square single-room plan as its main part, with a door leading into a short wing to the left and a range of outbuildings at the rear. The north front has a small canted bay window on the ground floor, which contains a pair of casement windows at the front and a casement window on each side, each with six panes. There is a thick slate sill and small slates on the roof. The first floor features a 19th-century six-pane horned sash window with a slate sill.
The east wing to the left has a gabled end facing east and a door on the north side, accessed by two slate steps. The east end has a 20th-century ground floor window and a very small narrow light in the gable. The west side has a massive external chimney breast that is wider with one set off each side, topped by two large square red brick chimney shafts. To the right of the chimney are 20th-century windows, including one on the ground floor with a concrete sill and another on the first floor with a slate sill.
At the rear, there is a single-storey range of outbuildings with a slightly lower roof. This includes a 20th-century lean-to on the right and two doors on the left. There is a loft window at the north end and two square sash windows under the eaves at the rear, along with a roofless stone lean-to.
Inside, the ground floor has stone slab flooring and a large open fireplace, which includes a moulded stone from Strata Florida Abbey featuring a double circle pattern on the right side. A new staircase has been added in the centre of the main room, and there is a small kitchen at the rear. There was previously a staircase in the east wing, which has now been removed. The outbuilding features cobbled flooring and old roof trusses.
