Description
The gate piers, gates, and railings at Penlan Lodge date from the 19th century and are an important feature of the property. They consist of double gates with railings that extend along the southwest side in front of the lodge. The square piers are made of ashlar stone and have stepped caps topped with polygonal urn finials, although the finials are missing on the northeast side. The double iron gates are adorned with simple pyramid finials and waisted finials on the stanchions. The railings, which share similar mouldings, continue along the southwest side and end with an ashlar pier that matches the main gate piers.
