Barn range an W side of farmyard at Ty Glyn

The building is a barn range located on the west side of the farmyard at Ty Glyn, likely constructed in the late 18th century, as suggested by its roof type. It does not appear on the 1843 Tithe Map, which may be an oversight.

The exterior features rubble stone walls and a slate roof. It is a tall single range with a prominent central doorway that has a cambered head, a brick arch, and double ledged doors with a chamfered centre post. There are vent loops on either side of the doorway. The rear wall includes a cambered-arched doorway with double doors and stone voussoirs.

At the northern end, there is a low building with an asbestos roof and a single door with a timber lintel. Additionally, there is a loading door at the northern end, also with a timber lintel.

Inside, the barn has a five-bay roof supported by pegged collar-trusses and scarfed wall-posts, which are face-pegged. It features triple purlins and has three vent loops at the lower end and six at the upper end. The added northern range has a three-bay roof with scarfed collar trusses.

This barn is a well-preserved example from the late 18th century, notable for its scarfed roof trusses, and it holds group value with other listed buildings in the farmyard.
