Description
23 Quay Street consists of two houses built from whitewashed rubble stone, featuring slate roofs and brick end stacks. The buildings are two storeys high, with a two-window range on the left and a one-window range on the right. On the left side, there are two first-floor sash windows, each with cambered stone heads and slate sills; one is an original 12-pane window, while the other is a 4-pane window. The ground floor has a canted bay window above a basement door, along with a pair of doors. One door, aligned with the sash window above, is a six-panel door with a traceried overlight and a painted timber doorcase topped with a slate hood supported by timber brackets. The adjoining door is also a six-panel design but features a plain overlight, lacks a doorcase, and has a 20th-century shelf hood.
On the right side, there is a 12-pane sash window above, with a timber lintel. Below, there is a 20th-century curved bow window set on a rubble base of a canted bay window, and to the right, a 20th-century door with a plain overlight and timber lintel.
