Barn range at Alltmawr Isaf

The barn range at Alltmawr Isaf is a Grade II listed structure, featuring a combination of weatherboard and rubble stone with a slate roof. This long barn runs down a slope and has a roof that steps out three times on the east side. The upper end is constructed of rubble stone and includes double full-height barn doors at the far left, along with two loop openings. The roof steps out slightly at the beginning of an earlier timber-framed barn, where the rubble stone gable wall is now internal but still visible as a stone pier, with weatherboard walls leading to a projecting pent porch over the double doors at the center of the original barn.

Beyond this section, the roof steps out further over a rubble stone lean-to, which has a door on the right with a timber lintel. The original timber-framed wall is visible within this area. On the south gable end, there is a long added lean-to made of rubble stone, featuring one door and a loop in the east end wall. The roof of this lean-to is half-hipped to the east and hipped to the west, with a south door and three windows. The hipped west end connects the rear lean-to to the main barn.

The original barn range consists of five bays and is supported by tie-beam trusses with angled struts and diagonal braces. The stone gable ends have tiers of vent loops, and the upper gable includes a loft opening. The added upper end also features trusses with angled struts.
