Description
Cefn Brith is a 17th-century farmhouse and associated buildings constructed from whitewashed rubble stone, featuring slate close-eaved roofs and ridge stacks on either side of the house range. There is a stone stack on the left end and a larger square stone stack on the ridge to the right. The building is one storey with an attic, showcasing three catslide dormers on the eaves, each fitted with pairs of casement windows; the leftmost dormer has two pairs of casement windows.
On the ground floor, there are few openings: a board door to the left, a small casement pair window with timber lintels, followed by a large whitewashed stone gabled porch with a timber lintel, and another casement pair window to the right. Inside the porch, the walls are colourwashed, and it contains two stone bench seats along with a plank door that has a cambered head and wrought iron hinges, supported by a heavy cambered-headed oak frame.
To the right of the house is a lofted byre that matches the eaves and ridge height of the main building. It features a central loft door above two doors with timber lintels; one door is in the center with its lintel carried under the loft door and over a small window, while the other is positioned far right. The rear of the building is not whitewashed, displaying a long rubble wall with a loft door leading to the byre, and various windows in the rear of the house, including a stair light.
The interior has not been inspected, but the published plan indicates a large fireplace with a bread oven at the byre end, thin stairs aligned with the door, and a long space to the left that has later partitions and a small end fireplace. The interior also features nine regularly spaced beams.
