Description
Ty'n-y-graig is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed of rubble stone, which was formerly whitewashed. It features close-eaved grouted slate roofs and has a large square stone chimney on the ridge towards the north end, with a smaller square chimney at the south end, both equipped with dripstones and pyramid capping. The gables are topped with stone coping. The building is one and a half storeys tall, with a stair gable that projects from the center right on the west side. The north end is built into a slope and includes a loft door.
The east front mainly consists of an outshut, which has a door at the right end leading into a room beneath the loft, located behind the stack, and a window containing 25 very small panes. To the left of the outshut is a cobbled walled yard that features a door in a porch with a slate lean-to roof against the end wall of the outshut and a stone south wall. Above this area, there is a small 4-pane sash window in a stone eaves-breaking dormer to the left. The south end has a lean-to structure with a door and window facing east. The east wall is said to have 'WWI 1762' inscribed on it.
On the west rear wall, which faces the road, there is one 4-pane stair-light in the projecting gable, a 4-pane sash window on the ground floor to the right of the gable, and a small 4-pane sash window just to the left of the gable, with an eaves-breaking 4-pane sash window above in the stone dormer gable. To the left, there is another small 4-pane ground floor window, which serves the dairy located under the loft, positioned at a slightly higher level.
While not available for inspection, it is reported that the room at the south end is divided from the entry by a partition featuring some in-and-out boarding. Inside, there are stone stairs opposite the entry, wide-boarded doors, a hewn beam, and stop-chamfered joists.
