Description

The stable at Plas yn Rhiw is a Grade II listed outbuilding constructed from rubble stone. At the left end, there is a roofless square building with an uncertain roof form. This structure features a door situated between two small windows on the south end, and it has a cobbled floor inside. The blank east wall connects to a tack-room, which has a grouted slate roof and a stone chimney on the left. The tack-room includes a barred square window on each floor to the left and a stable door to the right, with slab lintels above the ground floor openings.

The stable range is long and projects outward, built with large squared stones. While the gables are intact, the front loft wall has been lowered, leaving only one square window on the left. The ground floor has a similar square window on each side of the door, with slab lintels above. At the north end, there is an added lean-to coach-house featuring a slab lintel and a slate roof. A pigsty runs to the north and includes one door. The rear of the building is built into a bank, and the rear dormer on the tack-room served as a loft door. The stable originally had one rear loft window.

Inside the stable, there is a cobbled floor and a recess in the back wall opposite the door, with the gable wall's stonework being thinner. There are traces of a loft and a rear window. The tack-room had accommodation on the first floor, accessed from the rear, and the south end section shows traces of a loft floor.
