Description
The Church of St Aelrhiw is a former parish church built from rubble stone and topped with slate roofs. It has an unusual layout featuring a short nave with a west bellcote and a very short chancel, flanked by long transepts. All the roofs are set at the same pitch and ridge height. The windows are slightly pointed, resembling round arches. The west end has a single light window, and the bellcote is capped with a single opening. The north side of the nave features double ledged doors with a similar head design. The transepts are windowless on the west side, each having a single window at the ends and one window on the east side. The chancel projects slightly and has a taller window with two-light Y-tracery. The glazing is generally leaded, although the end windows of the transept have been replaced with plate glass.
At the time of the survey, the church was not accessible. It is said to contain 19th-century roof trusses and furnishings, as well as a grave slab for Lowri Wynne of Boduan, who died in 1674.
