Description
Aithnen Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century, is situated on elevated ground above the farmyard and features a walled forecourt. The house is two storeys high and maintains its original three-unit layout, with the right unit slightly projecting. It has a roughcast exterior, a slate roof with a tile ridge, and brick chimney stacks positioned at the mid and right ends. The upper floor has four- and six-pane horned sash windows, while the ground floor includes a casement window, a six-pane sash window, and a three-light irregular window with a central casement. There is an open-fronted porch at the junction of the main range and the forward unit on the right, along with a secondary boarded door in the right unit. At the rear, there are lean-to additions.
Adjacent to the left of the farmhouse is an agricultural range constructed from local grey/brown uncoursed stonework, featuring four boarded doors set in brick-arched openings and two loft hatches above. The range has a slate roof. A ramp leads from the farmyard up to the forecourt of the house. The interior has not been seen.
